Motivation means not only the motive for me to take part in the great Beijing to Paris event. It’s also the charity that we as riders have chosen to raise money with through our tour. Please visit the events Charity page to get further information about this and hopefully to donate if you’re able to.
My personal motivation to ride this tour is manifold. Besides my enthusiasm for cycling in general I want to promote carfree living, human power and renewable energies.
The tour also means a great chance to do a reality check and to really learn about and experience other cultures. Through cultural exchange and communication one can destroy negative prejudice about other peoples and therefore be a “peace spreader”. By cycling I can always make a face-to-face connection to others on the track and talk to them - that’s a totally different and in my eyes more comprehensive way of traveling, a new quality of traveling. And instead of only getting to know the destination of my journey as flight passengers do e.g., I will also get everything in-between. And on top of all that I can travel with a clear conscience, knowing that my impacts, my ecological footprint is really small compared to all other means of traveling (except human powered ones).
